Are you experiencing absent team member stress?

Absent team members put stress on the rest of the team forcing management to figure out who must absorb the extra workload. US businesses lose up to $300 billion yearly as a result of workplace stress. Read how our work with a client reduced their stress during a team member’s unexpected and extended absence.

The Task

A fabrication shop providing services to several states requested our assistance at Success Trek in documenting job tasks. This included developing work instructions, training guides, and tools for an office administrative position. As part of a corporation with over 7,000 employees, our client sought our help to minimize redundancies of the job and improve their capability to cross-train existing employees or onboard a new employee more efficiently and effectively.

The Action

Working with our client’s subject matter expert, we mapped out the workflow and added in the specific job task details. The project was on track when suddenly the subject matter expert had an emergency and was unavailable for a couple of months. The inability to finish the project was secondary in comparison to the adverse effect of our client not being able to complete the day-to-day job tasks necessary to meet their customer’s needs.

Although not yet complete, Success Trek knew the primary job tasks for the office administration position, so we shifted gears. We advanced a solution to our client to consider: Success Trek would support them by performing the actual job tasks while continuing to refine the work instructions, training guides, and tools for the job. Our client agreed and thus began a new level of partnership.

The Result

Upon the subject matter expert’s return, we debriefed on the work we had done during their absence and reviewed the strengthened work instructions, training guides, and tools created along the way. Our client was grateful for our ability to provide Implementation Support, quickly pivoting from one objective to another so they could focus on doing their job duties and responsibilities.

Success Trek’s work helped them improve their business operations by stepping in when an unexpected absence occurred, reducing stress among the team, and validating that our client is better prepared to navigate any future emergency.
